Alum Ryan K. Johnson (M.F.A. 2023) has received a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship, joining artists and scholars from across the country following a rigorous selection process. Johnson is among seven choreographers selected for the 2024 class of Guggenhiem Fellows.

Faculty member Lisa Laratta and fellow artists Amy Bench and Veronica Ceci have collaborated on a joint art exhibition that seeks to provide refuge from the demands of our digital, capitalistic age. The installation, titled Soft Pocket: A Collaborative Immersive Installation, will be at ICOSA from April 12-May 11, 2024.

Students and faculty in our integrated media for live performance area collaborated to create The Stars Hold Our Stories, an interactive, immersive exhibit presented as part of Fusebox Festival 2024. This exhibit will be on display at Canopy Projects on April 11-14, 2024. 

Ground Floor Theatre's production of Clyde's features Ph.D. candidate Yunina Barbour-Payne as "Clyde" and intimacy direction by faculty member Andy Grapko. The production will be on stage May 16-June 1, 2024.

The Immersive Experiences course through Texas Immersive Institute is debuting an interactive event, Elysian Heights, which asks the question "What if Austin was ruled by artificial intelligence?" The creative team bringing this project to life features multiple UT Theatre and Dance students. 

Co-creator of Romeo y Juliet, KJ Sanchez, speaks to Flora Farr of the The Daily Texan on the "why" behind the new bilingual LGBTQIA+ production. Farr also speaks to Theatre and Dance students Valeria Najera Zavala and Karla Bermudez, who play "Romeo" and "Juliet," about their experiences stepping into these roles.

A24 has released the first trailer for Janet Planet, written and directed by faculty member Annie Baker. Baker's feature film debut will hit theatres in June of 2024.
