Meet the cast and creative team collaborating to bring ROMEO Y JULIET, a bilingual retelling of one of Shakespeare's most cherished works, to the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre. 

Love Muwwakkil (M.F.A. 2023) was selected for the 2024 The LINE Residency with Big Medium. This residency, partially funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, provides studio spaces to artists in the middle of downtown Austin, in an effort to combat the loss of space for artistic creation.

Ahead of its world premiere, Dr. Lisa B. Thompson (faculty) and Bonnie Cullum (M.F.A. 1989) talk with American Theatre magazine about Thompson's new play, The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body, debuting at the VORTEX Theatre April 12-May 4, 2024.

The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body, written by Dr. Lisa B. Thompson (faculty) and directed by Rudy Ramirez (M.A. 2012), will premiere at The VORTEX on April 12-May 4, 2024 as part of the play's rolling world premiere with the National Performance Network. 

South by Southwest (SXSW) is one of Austin's biggest events of the year, bringing filmmakers, musicians and creatives from around the world to the city. This year, a number of alumni and current UT Theatre and Dance students are collaborating on SXSW events, both behind the scenes and on stage in official and unofficial showcases.

Faculty member Roxanne Schroeder-Arce serves as a panelist for the 2024 Power of BIPOC PoP: Comics, Gaming, Animation and Multimedia Arts Symposium.

Playwrights Horizons will present Staff Meal, an award-winning play by alum Abe Koogler (M.F.A. 2014), as part of their 2023/2024 season.

Registration is now open for all three of The University of Texas at Austin Theatre and Dance Youth Summer Camps. This summer, we have a variety of exciting opportunities for young artists to grow their skills, showcase their talents and explore UT Austin.
