HBO Max's Love & Death features performances by faculty member Christin Davis, alumnus Bruce McGill (B.F.A. 1973) and former UT students Olivia Applegate and Kira Pozehl. The crime drama was also partially filmed in nearby Georgetown, Texas. 

The 2023 cohort of UTeach Theatre grads spent their final semester as student teachers. We spoke with a few of our 2023 UTeach grads about the lessons they learned in classrooms and the advice that helped them as student teachers.

Alumni Katie Folger (B.A. 2013) and Matrex Kilgore (B.A. 2015) are collaborating on a one-woman show, on stage at Crashbox May 4-13, 2023. Kilgore directed the "racy and whimsical" piece, which was written and performed by Folger. 

Ph.D. candidate Jessica L. Peña Torres expands on her performance research, which re-examines heritage and authenticity in ballet folklórico, in a recent article from The Journal of American Drama and Theatre.

Playwrights Horizons just announced that their 23/24 season will include the "kaleidoscopic comedy" Staff Meal, written by alum Abe Koogler (M.F.A. 2014). Koogler's play, which will be on stage in spring 2024, imagines a fictional restaurant that serves as an oasis from the dark world beyond it.

Texas Performing Arts and Fusebox Festival have selected faculty member Dr. Lisa B. Thompson as their newest TPA x Fusebox resident. With their support, Thompson will workshop and present The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body in Fusebox Festival 2024.
