Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan's (B.A. 1975) film Hacksaw Ridge, co-written with Andrew Knight and directed by Mel Gibson, has been nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. The College of Fine Arts recently sat down with Schenkkan to discuss his inspiration, nominations and current projects.

Alumnus Robert Schenkkan's (B.A. 1975) piece Hacksaw Ridge (co-written with Andrew Knight) was nominated for Best Picture as well as Lead Actor (Andrew Garfield), Best Director (Mel Gibson), Film Editing, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. The 89th Academy Awards will be held February 26, 2017.
