Fajer Al-Kaisi M.F.A. ('07) is performing in the world premiere of Aftermath at New York Theatre Workshop. Erik Jensen and Jessica Blank are the award-winning writers of, The Exonerated, which ran for eighteen months Off-Broadway.

Directed by Blank, Aftermath, was conceived and created by actual interviews with Iraqi refugees living in Jordan. Jensen and Blank created the piece based on these conversations and examine how the Iraq War has fundamentally changed the lives of these civilians. Al-Kaisi also serves as Dialect Coach for the play.

While most of the actors are of Middle Eastern descent, Fajer is the only one who was born in Baghdad. Fajer and his family emigrated to Montreal, Canada when he was eight years old. Speaking to the New York Times' Kate Taylor, Fajer said the war is a “daily reality” for him.
