Phillip James Montaño

James Montaño is a dramaturg, educator, critic and playwright formerly based in Boston, MA. He taught public speaking at Harvard University and was the education and engagement fellow at the American Repertory Theater (ART) until 2019. He has served as dramaturg for productions at ART, Harvard University, Boston Conservatory and has written theatrical criticism for the Theatre Times and HowlRound. His training is from UMass Amherst, ART/Harvard and the Moscow Art Theatre. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice at The University of Texas at Austin.
