Fridays @2 Speaker Series Presents Joseph Keckler

Singer, musician, writer and artist, Joseph Keckler offers a preview performance and talkback as part of Performance as Public Practice's Fridays @2 Series. Keckler performs widely and has appeared at venues including BAM, Centre Pompidou, PEN American Center and others. He is the author of several theatre and performance pieces as well as numerous songs and videos. His writing has appeared in Literary Hub, VICE, Hyperallergic and other publications. His musical performances have been featured on WNYC and BBC America and he is the recipient of awards from Creative Capital, Franklin Furnace and New York Foundation for the Arts. He was recently a long term Witt Artist in Residence at University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design. He has been described as a "major vocal talent [who] shatters the conventional boundaries" by The New York Times and was named the "Best downtown performance artist [in New York]" by The Village Voice. He is currently under commission from Prototype Festival/HERE and Opera Philadelphia/FringeArts. His book of essays and stories, Dragon at the Edge of a Flat World was recently published by Turtle Point Press.

This Fridays @2 Speakers Series is presented by the Performance as Public Practice program and the LGBTQ Studies program.

Admission is free and seating is limited.
