Current Ph.D. candidate Michael DeWhatley and M.F.A. candidate Deen Rawlins-Harris were selected from applicants across the state as the two recipients of Texas Educational Theatre Association's 2022 Founders' Scholarships for Upper Division/Graduate Theatre Students.

Faculty member and award-winning actress Franchelle Stewart Dorn is starring in Alley Theatre's production of Seascape by Edward Albee. The production will be on stage October 14 - November 13, 2022.

Alum Lucy Kerr (B.A. 2014) is featured on Filmmaker Magazine's annual list of 25 New Faces of Independent Film. As a dancer during her childhood and time at UT Austin, she was later drawn to the medium of film and the narrative opportunities it provides. 

Alum Lane Michael Stanley's feature film Addict Named Hal was released for on-demand viewing on multiple streaming platforms on October 11, 2022. This ensemble film features the work of various UT Theatre and Dance artists, who served as actors, designers and members of the management/creative team.

Texas Theatre and Dance is pleased to present In Sisters We Trust, or My F*cked Up American Girl Doll Play by Justine Gelfman in collaboration with Susanna Wolk, directed by Jenny Lavery. This pointed, witty and darkly-humorous new play tells the story of the much-beloved American Girl Dolls who are all grown up and gathering for a televised Bachelor-style reunion to decide the fate of the company. Suddenly, the girls start disappearing; something glitches and we’re thrown into a glossy feminist co-working space on the brink of expansion. The progressive women at the helm are still perpetuating age-old oppressive practices, now just in a shade of millennial pink. In Sisters We Trust, or My F*cked Up American Girl Doll Play investigates how corporate feminism is repeating and rebranding mistakes of the past instead of finding new pathways to empowerment. On stage at the B. Iden Payne Theatre October 20-29, 2022.
