Alum Lane Michael Stanley's feature film Addict Named Hal was released for on-demand viewing on multiple streaming platforms on October 11, 2022. This ensemble film features the work of various UT Theatre and Dance artists, who served as actors, designers and members of the management/creative team.
Addict Named Hal follows Amy as she is unwillingly sent to a recovery house by her mom and slowly realizes she just might belong there. After playing at film festivals including Austin Film Festival and Santa Barbara International Film Festival and picking up multiple Best Feature awards, Addict Named Hal is now available to rent or buy thanks to distributor Freestyle Digital Media.
Addict Named Hal was filmed while Stanley was attending The University of Texas at Austin and features collaborators from across the university, including the Department of Radio-Television-Film and the Department of Theatre and Dance. The script was developed through the Professional Development Workshop (PDW) with former faculty member Carra Martinez and a director's studio with KJ Sanchez.
