Assistant Operations Manager
David Thomases joined the Department of Theatre and Dance in the summer of 2023, serving as the Assistant Operations Manager. In this role, he manages the F. Loren Winship Drama building and its maintenance and renovation needs as well as overseeing the safety and emergency management and other operational needs of the department. He is originally from the Chicago area, having graduated with a B.A. in Theatre from Northwestern University. After relocating to Austin in 2013, he became involved in the Department of Theatre and Dance through several classroom and Cohen New Works Festival projects, as well as composing and devising music for The PaperBoats, an ongoing and developing piece in Theatre for the Very Young. Thomases is also an avid musician who plays cello, trombone and just about every four-stringed instrument he can get his hands on to add to his growing repertoire. He once also made it to the quarterfinals of the O. Henry Museum Pun-Off World Championship.
