Joshua W. Martin is a second-year M.F.A. in Theatre candidate with a specialization in live design and production at The University of Texas at Austin, where he studies both scenic design and integrated media for live performance. Martin is a multidisciplinary theatrical designer, first-generation theatre artist and collector of professions. He has spent the last decade cultivating a career in the performing arts in North Carolina, Ohio, Minnesota, Texas and New York, helping artists create unique and impactful work. His avid commitment to theatre for social change drives his current pursuits of democratizing theatrical apparatus/interfacing, placemaking in emerging and unconventional spaces and creating gate analysis and community exchange tools for performing arts venues. Martin is a founding member and acting artistic director of Imperium Arts Inc. Recent credits for Texas Theatre and Dance include Sanctuary City (studio series, 2024), Blood at the Root (studio series, 2024), Pretend it’s Pretend (UTNT (UT New Theatre), 2024), Romeo y Juliet (assistant - 2024), This is Our Youth (studio series, 2024) and A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of Great Lakes (2024).
