Sarah Feli is a performance artist, practice-based researcher and educator with a diverse background ranging from performing, directing and design to dramaturgy, choreography and teaching. Over the past seven years, Feli’s career has been dedicated to bridging the gap between artistic research and the public sphere, making the esoteric accessible in our everyday lives. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Theatre with a specialization in performance as public practice at the University of Texas at Austin, Feli is engaged in two projects that delve into the intricate interplay between performance, observation and societal dynamics. In Peripherality; An Excavation in the Field of Vision, Sarah explores the potency of the focused gaze in shaping discrimination and altering the authenticity of actions. Her curiosity lies in unraveling how subtle micro-performative practices can disrupt the dominance of the observational gaze, paving the way for a more peripherally fluid, socially inclusive vision. Through her project Terrace-lab, Feli is working on constructing a platform that disseminates and deliberates on the outcomes and methodologies of practice-based artistic research. She seeks a symbiotic evolution between artistic practice, scholarly inquiry and public discourse, fostering a dynamic exchange that enriches both the artist’s work and the broader cultural dialogue.
