Fajer Al-Kaisi M.F.A. ('07) is performing in the world premiere of Aftermath at New York Theatre Workshop. Erik Jensen and Jessica Blank are the award-winning writers of, The Exonerated, which ran for eighteen months Off-Broadway.

As a collective, they represent over 165 years of service to the Department of Theatre and Dance. 

In coordination with Texas Performing Arts' Campus and Community Engagement program, students from the Department of Theatre and Dance have had an exciting week filled with unique opportunities to meet and work with members of the "The Phantom of the Opera" touring company.

In Austin to accept a Texas Film Hall of Fame Award from the Austin Film Society, San Antonio born actor, Bruce McGill (B.F.A. Drama '73) spent Thursday's lunch hour sharing experiences and wisdom with students, faculty and staff from the Department of Theatre and Dance.

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance announces the publication of professor emeritus, Oscar G. Brockett's, new book, “Making the Scene: A History of Stage Design and Technology in Europe and the United States.”

Actors Theatre of Louisville will round out its 34th Humana Festival of New American Plays (February 21 – March 28) with a bill including one full-length play and two ten-minute plays written by Theatre and Dance students, faculty and alumni.

Third year M.F.A. in costume design candidate, Ariana Schwartz, has been awarded the prestigious Zelma H. Weisfeld Costume Design and Technology Award. Presented by the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), The Zelma H. Weisfeld Costume Design & Technology Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated excellence or outstanding potential in the areas of costume design or technology in the performing arts while pursuing a graduate degree.

Theatre and Dance alumnus Kevin Adams (B.F.A. in Theatrical Design, 1984) won a Tony Award for “Best Lighting Design of a Musical” for his design of American Idiot. The award marks a third-career win for Adams.
