About the Playwright

Adithi Chandrashekar (she/her) is a theater artist, screenwriter and filmmaker from Chicago. She received the 4802 New Play Residency at The Gift Theatre in Chicago to develop her solo play OPEN SEASON. Her short film, YOUNG CLAUDE, premiered at NewFest, New York’s largest presenter of LGBTQ+ film and media, and she was a semi-finalist for the New Voices Filmmaker Grant created by NewFest in partnership with Netflix. Most recent acting credits include Dance Nation (Steppenwolf Theatre), Theater for One (Court Theatre) and Laura and the Sea (Rivendell Theater). Chandrashekar served as the Writers Room Assistant on season one of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (Showtime). She holds degrees from American University (B.A.) and the Robert McKinney School of Law at Indiana University (J.D.). She is currently a third-year Screenwriting and Playwriting fellow at the Michener Center for Writers at The University of Texas at Austin.

 

 

About the director


Georgia Beckmann (she/they) is a multi-hyphenate artist whose work as dramaturg, deviser and producer is rooted in sensory world building, spatial semiotics and sociopolitical engagement. At Texas Theatre and Dance, she served as  dramaturg for Cabaret (2025), Once in a Hundred Years (2025), and Cruising for Emotional Connection (2024). Additionally, Beckmann was the  Co-Chair of the Committee for Education, Community Engagement and Dramaturgy for the 2025 Cohen New Works Festival. As a Fulbright grantee in Portugal, Beckmann collaborated with artists from Já International Theatre in Lisbon and ZID Theatre in Amsterdam to generate a filmed interdisciplinary performance titled Vloeien Azul (2023), serving primarily as a writer. They were the production manager for JáFEST 2023 in Lisbon, which received funding from the European Union’s Creative Europe initiative. She wrote and directed a full-length experimental audio drama titled the stain, the please, and the stars (2021) and has performed her short-form solo piece, Fruit Salad (2019), at La MaMa ETC’s Downstairs Theatre and in Trinity College’s Performance Lab.

Beckmann is currently pursuing their Ph.D. in Theatre with a concentration in performance as public practice, where her research focuses on theatrical explorations and representations of queer history.
