Madilynn Garcia selected for Rising Leader of Color theatre program

Department of Theatre and Dance alumna Madilynn Garcia was selected to participate in Rising Leader of Color, a program sponsored by Theatre Communications Group. The honor includes year-long curriculum designed to provide professional development and networking opportunities.

Carson Kreitzer (M.F.A., Playwriting, 2006) is a 2017 MacDowell Fellow and Guggenheim Fellow. Her musical LEMPICKA will have a workshop at Williamstown Theater Festival in August.

Abe Koogler’s (M.F.A., Playwriting, 2014) latest play, Fulfillment Center, was reviewed by the New York Times, which described it as “finding poetry in missed connections.” The play runs off-Broadway through July 9.

A former actor in New York on Broadway and off-Broadway, Catherine Ann Jones (B.F.A., Drama, 1965) is currently performing her 12th play, Freud's Oracle, a one-woman play set in Vienna and London in 1933.

Brian Kettler’s play part of Broadway Bound Theatre Festival, includes several alumni

Poor Boys’ Chorus by Brian Kettler (M.F.A., Playwriting, 2015) is one of 20 plays selected from more than 200 submissions to be a part of Broadway Bound Theatre Festival’s inaugural season in New York City this August. Poor Boys’ Chorus was developed and produced while Kettler was pursuing his master’s degree at UT Austin.

Martin Rodriguez (B.F.A., Theatre Studies, 2015), Amanda Lloyd (B.A., Theatre Studies, 2014), Sarah Marcum (B.F.A., Theatre Studies, 2014) and Shae Tomlinson (B.A., Theatre and Dance, 2015) formed Flat Tire Theatre Company in Los Angeles. They will perform in their second Hollywood Fringe Festival this year with a show titled CringeFest: An Uncomfortable Anthology.

Dan Duling’s (Ph.D., Drama, 1977) play “Tesla: A Radio Play for the Stage” will be performed May 26-28 at Laguna Playhouse in Laguna Beach, California. He also is the scriptwriter at Pageant of the Masters in Laguna and their latest production, “The Grand Tour,” which opens July 7.
