Kevin Newcomb

Since his appointment by the College of Fine Arts Office of the Dean in 2002, Kevin created and now manages the Media Support Services Office in the Department of Theatre and Dance. The Media Support Services office offers education on classroom instructional technology and audio-visual equipment reservations and distribution to faculty and students in the Department of Theatre and Dance. He also designs, installs, maintains, and supports classroom instructional technology and provides training on computer hardware and software, media production equipment and software, and internet-based collaborative tools in the Department of Theatre and Dance, Department of Art and Art History, and The Butler School of Music. He is a consultant on computer systems, media production equipment, collaborative tools, audio-visual systems, software, networks, and develops policy and procedures for production and exhibition for faculty, staff and students in the College of Fine Arts.

Kevin earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy with emphasis on Philosophy of Psychology, and a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film with a minor in Critical and Cultural Studies with emphasis on Feminist Media in a double-degree program at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his M.F.A. in Art on full scholarship from the University of Oklahoma with concentrations in Film Production and Film History. His experimental film, Deo Gratias, won First Place at The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences College Emmy Awards, an Eastman Kodak Grant and invitation to screen at the Cannes Film Festival’s Emerging Filmmaker’s Showcase.
