Bio
Christin Sawyer Davis has worked professionally as an actor for over 20 years with roles in film/television, theatre and commercials. Davis filmed a supporting role in the upcoming thriller Eleven Days, directed by Peter Landesman (starring Rhea Seehorn, Diego Luna and Jason Isaacs). Other film credits include Song to Song (opposite Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender) directed by Terrence Malick, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (opposite Julianne Moore and Blake Lively) directed by Rebecca Miller and Mr. Roosevelt, starring and directed by Noël Wells. Davis was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress award by Indie Short Fest for her work in the award-winning short film, Fault Line (director Lauren Himmelvo). Davis can also be seen as Elaine Carpenter (opposite Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Pelphrey) in the award-winning HBO Limited Series Love and Death.
On stage, Davis has worked as an actor in New York and regionally, including A.C.T., Bristol Riverside Theater and Theatre Squared. In Austin she has worked with Theatre en Bloc and ZACH Theatre. Davis has also worked with Mildred’s Umbrella in Houston and has appeared in several national commercial campaigns. Davis is a proud member of Actor’s Equity and SAG/AFTRA.
Davis received her B.A. in English (magna cum laude) from Rice University and her M.F.A. in Acting from American Conservatory Theater, where she received the Joan Sadler Award for outstanding performance and leadership. She completed her comprehensive Pilates certification with Kelly Kane at the Kane School of Core Integration in New York and regularly engages in additional trainings to support vocal and somatic awareness in her practice and teaching.
Davis has been on faculty at UT Austin’s Department of Theatre and Dance since 2017 and has served as the Head of Acting since 2023. She teaches courses in Acting, Movement, Voice and Professional Preparation. She is a 2026 recipient of the Dads’ Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship, a university-level honor recognizing innovative pedagogy and impactful mentorship.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the UT Theatre and Dance community?
The students here are amazing. They are passionate, curious, kind and hard-working. I love coming to work every day to see what they bring into the room.
What is your favorite thing about Austin?
I love the sense of community here. And that there is a vibrant art scene and stuff to do outside.
