Alumna Awarded Prestigious Award: Rebecca Hewett, 2011 ACLS Public Fellow

The highly competitive Public Fellows program draws applications from across the country. Hewett is one of only eight honored with this distinguished award.

Rebecca Hewett has been awarded a 2011 American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Public Fellow at the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA).

The ACLS Public Fellows program places recent doctorates in staff positions at partnering agencies in government and the non-profit sector, demonstrating that the capacities developed in the advanced study of the humanities have wide application, both within and beyond. The highly competitive Public Fellows program draws applications from across the country. Hewett is one of only eight honored with this distinguished award.

As the DCLA Cultural Programs Specialist, Hewett will perform critical research, analysis and support on long-term initiatives and projects to support New York City's not-for-profit cultural community. Hewett holds a master of arts degree and a doctorate in Performance as Public Practice from The University of Texas at Austin.
