Undergraduate External Transfer Admissions

If you’d like to attend UT Austin but you’ve already started your studies at another college or university, you should apply as an external transfer student. You are considered a transfer student even if you withdrew from the college before earning any credit or if you earned only nontransferable credit; completion of at least 30 semester hours (or the equivalent) of transferable credit is required for transfer admission consideration.

To apply for external transfer admission, you must submit their application to the Office of Admissions by March 1. The Department of Theatre and Dance admits students in the fall semester only.

General undergraduate admission to the university is based on your high school academic record, SAT or ACT scores, extracurricular work, volunteer work and essays.

Once we receive your admissibility from the UT Office of Admissions, the Department of Theatre and Dance Admissions Committee reviews your transfer GPA, a resumé and application essay. In addition, it’s recommended that you also submit a theatre and/or dance resumé.

Audition and Interview Requirements for Admission

An interview is required of all prospective B.F.A. in Theatre Studies students.

Students applying to the B.F.A. in Dance are required to audition and submit letters of recommendation. Please download a B.F.A. Dance e-packet (PDF), which contains information about the B.F.A. Dance program and auditions.
