Emily Novack is a creative artist spanning multiple mediums and an M.F.A. in Design and Technology candidate with a focus in lighting design. She recently received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies with a focus in lighting design from the University of South Florida (USF), graduating Summa Cum Laude. While at USF, she performed in modern and contemporary works by John Parks and Dr. Merry Lynn Morris, as well as multiple B.F.A. student works. She also conducted interdisciplinary research into the effects of lighting design on the creation process and perception of movement, with the goal of developing a design-driven creative process, envisioning lights as an initiation point for movement. She has designed lights for productions such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Northwest Florida State College, Cabaret at USF and many mixed-bill dance concerts. As a student in the UT Live Design program, she hopes to continue her investigation of the relationship between movement and light.
