Gursimrat Kaur

Gursimrat Kaur is a second-year M.F.A. in Playwriting candidate at The University of Texas at Austin. She is also a fellow at the James A. Michener Center for Writers. Her work grapples with questions of identity in our modern society and dissects subjects of faith, doubt and cross-cultural human connection. Select plays include Radiance, At the Battlefront, Julia and a modern retelling of a prominent 16th century Punjabi folktale, Mirza-Sahiba. Her work has been developed at the School of Arts Institute of Chicago, Curious Theatre Branch, Naatak and MOXIE Theatre among others. She is the recipient of the Allan Havis Playwriting Award (UC San Diego) and was recently named the 2019-2020 Core Apprentice at The Playwrights’ Center. She is also a member of the Dramatist Guild.
