The Performance as Public Practice Fridays@2 speaker series facilitates discussions about the creation and study of performance. PPP welcomes artists from within and beyond the Winship Drama Building, including current students, distinguished alumni and arts leaders from across the country, to share their research and methodology. Up next is a conversation with jk jk - married couple khattieQ, a punk rocker and experimental theatre artist Jenny Larson-Quiñones.


About jk jk

khattieQ and Jenny Larson-Quiñones create collaboratively devised queer performance that center joy and disrupt the status quo. The pair began working together in 2015 as part of Adrienne Dawes’ Denim Doves, a play devised with Salvage Vanguard Theater in Austin, Texas. They have been artists-in-residence at the Osage Arts Community in Belle, Missouri (2016) and performed at the Kaustinen 50th Anniversary Folk Music Festival in Finland (2017). In 2020, jk jk’s Catalina La O Presenta: Now With Me was the Vancouver Fringe New Play Prize winner courtesy of Playwright Theatre Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. The performance-film screened in November of 2020 and also screened as part of the OUTsider Festival in February 2022 in Austin, Texas and the Ars Nova’s ANT Fest in New York City in June 2022. In October 2022, the two co-directed Adrienne Dawes' play Casta, presented by Blanton Museum of Art & produced by Salvage Vanguard Theater with support from the MAP Fund, NEA, and M-AAA. Next, the couple will present Catalina La O Presenta live in Austin as part of the OUTsider Festival in February 2023, and then in June 2023 they will premiere Desperately Seeking Comfortable Shoes at the Trinity Street Playhouse, kicking off Jenny’s first season as incoming Artistic Director of Trinity Street Players.
