B.A. in Theatre and Dance Candidate (with emphasis in Theatre for Youth and Communities)

Why did you choose UT Austin?

I transferred to UT Austin after starting my B.A. at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia. I learned and experienced so much during my time in Atlanta and eventually I realized where my passion and ability overlapped was in applied theatre. I was initially drawn to UT Austin because of the M.F.A. in Drama and Theatre for Youth and Communities and I've been so happy to be able to pursue my B.A. with a focus in Theatre and Drama for Youth and Communities.

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by the exchange of stories and wisdom, which is why I like theatre! Especially interactive applied theatre.

What is your favorite place to study?

I love to study anywhere outside where I can sit in some sun.

What do you love most about being part of the UT Theatre and Dance family?

I love that I've found a community of co-collaborators, learners and teachers to create art and dialogue alongside.

About Bex

I grew up listening to stories, putting on shows, and even telling stories of my own when I was a kid. After I was introduced to a method of applied theatre as a teenager, I avidly pursued opportunities to practice it. I went to a few training programs to become a Theatre of the Oppressed facilitator, where I created my own work using T.O. and finally came to Austin to finish by B.A. in Theatre and Dance.
