Jeff Ellinger

Jeff Ellinger is responsible for performance lighting support in the venues of the College of Fine Arts. He acts as lighting director for Texas Performing Arts and College of Fine Arts. He acts as lighting director for Texas Performing Arts and provides touring production support in Bass Concert Hall, McCullough Theatre and B. Iden Payne Theatre. Ellinger mentors and supervises lighting students for college proudctions, including Butler Opera Center, Theatre and Dance, and Art and Art History. Ellinger has a long and interesting history of experience in performing arts, including founding the Austin Shakespeare Festival and producing Austin's Shakespeare in teh Park 1984-1994; lighting the Austin Lyric Opera, first as master electrician and then as lighting designer; he was co-founder of Big State Theater and a writer and director on their critically-acclaimed In the West; chief lighting technician for episodes of Austin City Limits; and as a freelance electrics grip and best boy. Prior to coming to The University of Texas at Austin, he was performing arts supervisor for the City of Austin. He is a member of IATSE Local 205.
