Austin Latinx New Play Festival Showcases Work by UT Theatre Artists

Every year, Teatro Vivo presents staged readings of new plays through the Austin Latinx New Play Festival. This year's festival includes plays by UT faculty and current students, with collaborators from within the department and across the country.

David A. Crespy (M.F.A., Playwriting, 1986) receives Fulbright Scholar Award

Dr. Crespy, was awarded a second Fulbright Scholars Award to Spain and Greece for 2022-23 to write a hexalogy of stage dramas, composed of two cycles of three plays. Titled "Mi Corazón Español Vive Ahora En Grecia: Six Plays of Sephardic Greece," they focus on a fictional Jewish family over several generations during six periods of Jewish culture in Spain and Greece, focusing on the cities of Seville, Toledo, Madrid, Thessaloniki and Veria. The play series is a continuation of Dr. Crespy's "Madre de Israel: Three Plays of Jewish Salonika," a cycle of three full-length dramas he created during his Fall 2018 Fulbright residency in Thessaloniki, Greece.

UT Dance Students Attend ACDA Regional Conference

Earlier this semester, 15 dance students and members of the dance area faculty attended the American College Dance Association (ACDA) South-Central Regional Conference. While there, they performed to acclaim in the ACDA Gala Concert, presented new works of dance and film and participated in over 50 classes and workshops.
