Audiences have the opportunity to be enchanted once again by a dance piece from the Department of Theatre and Dance. Dance Repertory Theatre, the university’s student dance ensemble, will perform Quiver by David Justin at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on June 7.
The performance is in conjunction with the National College Dance Festival, an annual event hosted by American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA) which highlights exemplary choreography and performance created at colleges and universities across the country.
UT's dance program is one of 30 schools recognized at this year’s prestigious event. Only three works from the South-Central ACDFA region are chosen to be part of the festival's Saturday night gala of 12 outstanding dance pieces. ACDFA recently held its annual South-Central conference March 12-15 on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
Quiver was chosen for a repeat performance in the South-Central conference's Saturday evening gala on March 15, as well as The Great Green Greazy Limpopo River by UT dance student Kelsey Oliver. Her piece was also featured on the program of DRT's Kinesthetic Imperative. Quiver was featured in both Dance Repertory Theatre's Fall for Dance and Kinesthetic Imperative.
David Justin serves as the co-artistic director of Dance Repertory Theatre and the artistic director of American Repertory Ensemble. Kelsey Oliver is a junior at UT pursuing a B.F.A. in Dance, B.S. in Advertising, and Business Foundations Certificate.
