All Department of Theatre and Dance graduate students receive financial aid from the Department at some point during their studies. Students typically receive financial aid based on grades and overall merit. Each graduate program determines financial aid awards differently. Please contact your area head for specific information about financial aid available in your program area.
The minimum 9-month compensation for a 20-hour teaching assistant (sometimes called a "full assistantship") in the College of Fine Arts will be just over $10,000. If you have been awarded a TA position, please contact your area head to determine your exact compensation.
All offers of funding are subject to approval by the College of Fine Arts and the Graduate School of The University of Texas at Austin.
OUT OF STATE STUDENTS:
The Department of Theatre and Dance will often waive the out-of-state portion of your tuition if:
- you have an on-campus teaching assistant, assistant instructor or research assistant position of at least 20 hours, or
- you have a scholarship of $1,000 or more.
The Department can only grant out-of-state tuition waivers on a semester-by-semester basis.
